Edinburgh University Rifle Club is one of the most successful clubs in the Sports Union.

The club mainly competes and trains in smallbore rifle shooting (indoor at 25m, and outdoor at 50m and 100m), and fullbore rifle shooting. We are also currently trying to establish air pistol/rifle training programme for keen enthusiasts. For more info, please stop by or contact us via e-mail.

It is open to all, whether you already have experience of the sport or are a complete novice, as long as you are a student at Edinburgh University, but we also consider applications from EU staff and students from other Edinburgh academic institutions under given conditions.

All new members get individual coaching until they are proficient enough to shoot alone.  We encourage everyone to have a go, even if you have never shot before! Freshers are provided with free ammunition to complete the first stages of training.

Getting to know other people in the club is easy; socials are organised throughout the year, as well as frequent post-training trips to the pub!

Not only do you have the opportunity to develop skills in a fun and challenging sport, but you also have the chance to represent Edinburgh University in local, national and international competitions.

If you have shot before or just want to give it a go, come down to the range (located at the CSE gym at the Pleasance). You'll find us there on a Tuesday evening from 6:30pm or Wednesday afternoon from 2pm.  We can answer all your questions, and get you started.
